Biography of Arijit Singh
Arijit Singh is an Indian playback singer and music programmer. He is one of the finest singers of the present day. He became very popular after his song 'Tum Hi Ho' sung in the film Aashiqui 2. According to Arijit, apart from being a singer, he is also a badminton player, writer, movie freak and documentary maker. Despite being popular, he neither gives many interviews nor does he like to be photographed. Singh was also arrested in September 2013 when he misbehaved with journalist Apurba Chaudhary as he had asked Singh about his divorce. He has also been awarded many awards.
Arijit was born in Murshidabad, West Bengal. His father is Punjabi and his mother is Bengali. His music was initially trained from his home. His grandmother used to sing. And his aunt is trained in Indian classical music. He also learned music from his mother, who also performed tabla playing along with singing.

In 2005, he auditioned the reality show Fame Gurukul at the behest of Rajendra Prasad Hazari as he felt that the tradition of classical music was ending. At first Singh was hesitating to use that opportunity. But later he participated in it. The composer Shankar Mahadevan was on the jury panel and had a classical background. However, Arijit lost the show in the finals but then took part in another reality show 10K10 Le Gaye Dil which was a musical show and featured a contest between the winners of Fame Gurukul and Indian Idol. After winning the show, Singh created his recording setup and began his journey with music programming. After that, he worked as an assistant music programmer with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar and Mithun.
At that time, Mahadevan persuaded Arijit to give his voice to the song he composed but Arijit refused, saying that he had to become a 'popular voice' after which Mahadevan along with other singers dubbed the song. In 2010, Arijit started working with Pritam Chakraborty in three films including Golmaal 3, Crook, and Action Replay. In 2011, Singh made his Bollywood music debut with Mithun's song Phir Mohabbat, which is a song from Murder 2. The song was recorded in 2009 but released in 2011. He then sang the film agent Vinod's song Raabta.

He sang two songs in the film Main Tera Hero and also sung Heropanti's, Raat Baar. Apart from this, he sang many other songs like Parhanwan, Hamdard, Manwa Lage, Smiling Reasons, Suno Na Marble, Mast Magan which remained superhit and also dominated the chartbusters.
All these songs went on people's tongues and Arijit also touched new heights. After this, in 2015, he made the film Sooraj Dubey and sang the title track of Khamoshiyan and 'Baanne Ye Kabhi Na'.
